This Will Destroy You, June 5th
So back on the 5th I went to see This Will Destroy You play with Slow Six and Light Pollution at the Rivoli.
The venue was situated in a room at the back of this really nice restaurant, so the venue was actually really nice.
It’s a shame I had to leave early, but the show was absolutely incredible.
Slow Six played first, and I thought their stuff was so beautiful….lots of violin, kind of reminded me a bit of Set Fire to Flames.
Next up was Light Pollution, and I thought they were complete crap. Their music just annoyed me so much, especially the vocalist’s voice. omg. I don’t know why they were chosen to be an opening act…their music just did not suit the whole feel of the show- their music was more upbeat and fast paced, not post-rock-ish at all. Maybe they figured putting in a crappy band before This Will Destroy You would increase the anticipation for their set, haha.
Finally, This Will Destroy You played their set. It was just….wow. The whole room was dark, and they had these images of what looked like tree branches projected onto the back wall, so there was a kind of dark and mysterious atmosphere. TWDY’s music was like….waves of beautiful noise just washing over you and consuming you. I got lost in the music so easily, I love zoning out at shows.
The pictures I got were pretty awful because the room was dark and I didn’t want to use flash, but whatever, I’m posting some anyways.
