Haul of films from the library the other day.
Lately my life has consisted of nothing but painting and watching films. I’m not complaining!
Btw, I highly recommend all of these films! Some I had never watched before, but I’ve discovered some new favourites.

30 day tumblr challenge: Day 19- What is your favorite film? Why is it so important to you?

I hate questions that ask for one particular favourite, because I have a few favourites.

I love film, particularly silent films, foreign films, films with a surreal twist, films from the classic Hollywood period, and animations. I do enjoy other genres, but these are some of my favourites. I’m always looking for new films to watch.

If you want to see what I have watched and want to watch, visit my mubi account. (I’ve watched more films than is listed on there, I just can’t find them all).

If I had to choose my favourite film (at the moment), it would be The Lost Weekend. It’s a film from 1945 about an alcoholic who can’t go one day without drinking. His brother and girlfriend try to help him, but his addiction goes deeper than they think. The alcoholic tries to attempt drinking in moderation, but his attempts are futile. He hides bottles in places like vacuum bags, and even hanging from a string out the window. The film is great because I really enjoy the film noir elements, and the focus on psychology. The Lost Weekend is probably of importance to me because I know of some people in my family who have been alcoholics.
